One Degree of Separation

In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Hollywood superstar, Jennifer Lawrence, recently revealed that early in her career she was subjected to a nude lineup at a casting call, wearing only pasties to cover her private parts. She was also asked if she would be willing to do porn.

Just goes to show that there is one degree of separation between the Hollywood and San Fernando Valley movie crowd/industries. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Weinstein produced porn under pseudonym.

The Movie "Truth" Has Nothing to Do With Truth

In September 2004, Dan Rather of CBS 60 Minutes II reported on a story based on four memos reportedly taken from the files of George W. Bush's former Air National Guard  commanding officer. They were memos regarding Bush being absent without leave and his poor performance. It was a clear effort to discredit Bush and influence the upcoming election. The problem was the memos were obvious forgeries. It was easily shown that they were created using a word processor because the font they were typed in is a "computer" font that didn't even exist at the time the memos were claimed to have been written. Had Rather or the producer of the piece, Mary Mapes, bothered to do their journalistic due diligence, they would have easily discovered this and never run the story. But either because of their political motivation or zeal to get a juicy story, they didn't fact check their information and it cost both of them their jobs and reputations - as it should have. A former network news executive called this scandal the worst in American journalistic history.

Now apparently Hollywood feels as though enough time has passed in order for them to re-write history and tell the story they way they wish it had happened rather than the way it actually did. To be fair, Hollywood and the media having a certain bias is nothing new and it hasn't always been left-leaning. However, manufacturing evidence, rigging tests (as NBC did with GM) and forging documents is a dangerous new development that imperils a free society.

Hopefully moviegoers will be savvy enough to see through this shameless piece of propaganda and not financially reward those who were responsible for making it. Hollywood needs to be taught a painful lesson - lies don't sell.

The Story of Noah; No Mention of God - Leave It To Hollywood

Let me start out by saying that I haven't seen this movie yet. It doesn't open until the 28th of March. However, I have heard and read the reviews, I am aware of the controversy and I've heard the radio advertisements that say the filmmakers took artistic license but they believe they stayed true to the Biblical story. Really? Perhaps I'm not as familiar with the story as I think I am but I find it hard to believe that it is true to the Biblical story when, during the 139 minutes of runtime, God is not mentioned once. I reread the story in Exodus and in truth, no one utters the name God. However, God spoke to Noah and I find it difficult to imagine how to tell the story without so much as a narrator explaining that Noah is hearing the voice of God or depicting Noah trying to persuade others to repent without explaining to them what God revealed to him.

I doubt the sincerity of the filmmakers claims when I read things like the following in the Washington Post: "The producer of the movie 'Noah,' a self-professed atheist, says he is proud of the fact that he’s taken a story inspired by God’s word and turned it into something so secular." Why turn a Biblical story into something secular? Further, the Washington Times reported that in the UK Telegraph the director "...claimed his leading character, Noah, was the 'first environmentalist,' something that suggests the movie storyline doesn’t exactly follow the Bible’s."

It seems to me that the producer and director were more interested in pushing a liberal secular, overpopulation alarmist and environmental extremist point of view. The story in the Bible, the Torah and the Koran for that matter doesn't have anything to do with environmentalism or overpopulation and is anything but secular. How can a story about the relationship between God and man lack any  religious aspect? Leave it to Hollywood. Expect the Left Coast and Manhattan elitist crowds to love it.
