Lying And CoverIng Up: 1974 Vesus 2016

We sure have come a long way and not for the better. In 1974, Richard Nixon was forced to resign the presidency because of his lies and cover-up regarding the Watergate break-in. In 2016, Hillary Clinton may become president even though she has done far worse - she has been shown to be a liar and to have covered up her illegal email server and the events surrounding Benghazi. Throw in her excessively careless handling of classified material and perjury and today you are the most qualified Democrat to be president. The true irony is that Hillary started her career working as a staffer investigating Watergate. Apparently what she learned from that experience is that if you are going to lie and cover-up something, "Go big or go home!"

Is that the message? Or perhaps it is that crimes don't matter in 2016 as long as you are a progressive, female, Democrat, nominee for president of the United States.

Here is my bold prediction: Because Hillary has apparently gotten away with her criminal activities once again, she will be emboldened and will do even more egregious criminal acts if elected president. She won't make it through her first term before being impeached and either forced to resign or be convicted by the Senate and be removed from office.

Anyone voting for Clinton this November better be very comfortable with her choice for VP. In 2016 it will really matter!

Spit Take Averted; Computer Saved

A liberal progressive reader recently posted the following response to one of my blog entries regarding the reasons behind the success to date of Donald Trump's primary campaign: "I find it unbelievable that any American would even consider someone as crude and rude as Donald Trump as a presidential candidate. The president is the face of America. Is Trump's scowl and "potty mouth" the way we want America represented to the world? If so, then we are in deep trouble."
Fortunately, I wasn't drinking anything at the time or the resulting spit take would have ruined my computer. The comment is so ridiculous on so many levels I hardly know where to begin.
First, a progressive lamenting "potty mouth" is beyond absurd. Since Rhett Butler said, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." in Gone With the Wind in 1940, progressives have spent the last 76 years polluting our movies, literature, TV, music and culture with so much filth and violence, most of the rest of the world sees America as a cultural cancer on the planet. Today, virtually all PG-13 movies have to have an obligatory f-bomb. I doubt an American political candidate's occasional potty mouth will really have much impact on a world already being deluged with filth from the US courtesy of liberals.
Next there is the "crude and rude" concern. There are 196 countries in the world today and the vast majority are run by either murderous, brutal dictators, criminal thugs or leaders who are both. It would be quite arrogant of us to believe that much of the world has time to concern itself with the demeanor of an American politician when they are living in squalor and oppression or being brutalized by the government. Additionally, we spend millions every year for cultural sensitivity training. As someone who has attended more than my fair share of cultural training, I can tell you it is nearly impossible to generalize how an American's "crude and rude" behavior will be interpreted. Factor in language differences and I guarantee it.
Lastly and related to cultural difference is the concern over that scowl. I don't find world leaders to be a "smiley" crowd in general to begin with. Putin is not exactly a "Cheshire Cat". Further, many cultures equate smiling a lot as a sign of being a simpleton.

Look, there are many reasons to be concerned over Donald Trump as a presidential candidate but "crude and rude", "potty mouth" and that "scowl" are nowhere near the top of the list for me and I seriously doubt they are for most of the rest of the world who see the "face of America". Potty mouth? Really? Are you sh**ing me?

Rediscovering the Wit and Wisdom of Will Rogers

I was talking with my sons the other day about wise sayings and interesting quotes. My youngest son cited a quote by Mark Twain, "Never put off till tomorrow what my be done day after tomorrow just as well." That got me thinking of interesting quotes and bits of wisdom from other Americans. One of my favorites is Will Rogers.

I plan to occasionally share some of his sayings in this blog in the future and maybe discuss their relevance today.

I'll start with these two:

"Be thankful we're not getting all the government we're paying for."

"I am not a member of any organized party - I am a Democrat."

Would Rogers even be welcome in today's Democrat party?

Share your thoughts or other Rogers quotes you like.

Tonight's 4th Republican Debate

Tonight will present an opportunity for the Fox Business Network to show what it truly means to be "Fair and Balanced" and, unlike their CNBC counterparts who moderated the last debate, ask questions of the candidates that give them the chance to detail their economic plans and policies. It will allow them to compare and contrast those ideas with the ideas of the other Republican primary candidates and more importantly, it will provide them with the opportunity to suggest solutions based in reality instead of the fantasy-based policies that have been presented by the Democrat primary candidates.

If all goes well, the Republicans will get the relevant, unbiased questions they say they want and the voters deserve. They might regret getting what they ask for though. There won't be any feel good, softball questions. The candidate had better have their facts and figures down or this might be the last time they get to participate in the main debate. Fumbling around for the numbers and/or a poor command of the math will translate directly into precipitous down movement in the candidates' poll numbers.

I wonder if anyone will grant the Democrat candidates and the voters the same opportunity? I wonder of they actually want it.

Believing a Known Liar is a Sign of Desperation

Why would anyone believe what someone who 60%+ consider to be dishonest, untrustworthy or a liar promises them? Even if you agree with what they say, why would you expect them to do what they say? Character matters folks and Hillary lacks it!

Liberals Embarrassed by Trump

I find it amusing but also sad the state of affairs in our country. I've seen a lot of posts on social media and opinion pieces in the mainstream media by liberals saying how embarrassed they are by the current Republican front runner, Donald Trump. Apparently they aren't at all bothered by the fact that the Democrat party's leading candidate could actually have several felony convictions in her future and to add insult to injury, yesterday's Quinnapiac poll asked respondents to list the first word that comes to mind when they think of Hillary Clinton. The top four responses were:
"liar," with 178 people mentioning the word; 123 responded  "dishonest"; "untrustworthy" was mentioned 93 times and the first positive word, "experience", was number four with 82 responses. Talk about embarrassing.

Purging Hate in America

Yesterday, the South Carolina House of Representatives voted to remove the Confederate Battle flag from the state capital and the governor signed the bill into law. The flag will come down today. So over 50 years after the flag was raised by a Democrat governor and longtime U.S. Senator, Ernest "Fritz" Hollings and a Democrat controlled, white male state House and Senate, the flag seen by many has a symbol of racism and hate will come down under an Indian-American, female Republican governor, Nikki Haley, and a Republican-controlled state House and Senate. It is also interesting to note that South Carolina's senior U.S. Senator, Republican Lindsey Graham, continues to be elected despite lingering rumors that he is gay, and its junior senator, Republican Tim Scott, is the first African-American, elected to the U.S. Senate from the South since Reconstruction. Who knew South Carolina was such a hotbed of equality?

With the Confederate flag on its way out, as usual, those on the Left are not satisfied. Many, such as CNN anchor Don Lemon, are seriously questioning whether it's time to remove the Jefferson memorial from its place on the Tidal Basin and if, the nation's capital itself, should be renamed. After all, both Jefferson and Washington were slave owners so their place in American history is irredeemably tainted.

If that reasoning makes sense to you, I ask you to consider the following. Should someone be banished from the public arena if they supported slavery? How about if they were responsible for the Jim Crow laws and racial segregation? What if they formed a hate group that terrorized racial, religious and ethnic minorities? And how about if they opposed the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968, and the Voting Rights Act? What if they support policies that have had genocidal effects on the African-American population? Or if many in their leadership were former Klan members or spied on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and referred to him by the N-word? Would you associate with a group like this? Then why are some of you registered Democrats?

Here are the facts.
The Democrat Party was the party of slavery, Jim Crow laws and segregation.
The Ku Klux Klan was formed as the militant arm of the Democrat Party.
The following prominent Democrat members of the U.S. Congress opposed civil rights legislation:
Richard B. Russell, Al Gore Sr., J. William Fulbright, and Robert C. Byrd, to name a few;
President John F. Kennedy and his brother, U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, illegally wire-tapped the phones of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
President Lyndon B. Johnson described King using the N-word.
President Woodrow Wilson re-segregated the U.S. military
A major policy of the Democrat party, legalized abortion, was advocated by Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger, who in 1921 said it would, "...limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective." Today, 3 out of 4 African-American pregnancies end in abortion and the black population has remained the same as it was in 1973 - 13%. Prophetic, huh?

Maybe its time we really purge America of its hateful past. Let's start at the source and ban the Democrat Party.

The Illogic of Democrat Ebola Logic

Healthcare professionals who are compassionate enough to travel halfway around the world, live in 3rd world conditions and risk their own lives to work with Ebola patients will be discouraged from doing that in the future by a 21-day quarantine requirement? Do Democrats really think that makes sense?

You have to be in direct contact with someone infected with Ebola to contract the disease, right? So healthcare workers who will be up to their elbows, so-to-speak, in the blood, vomit, and feces of infected patients, don't need to be quarantined but our military personnel who won't be in direct contact with infected patients do? What???

Requiring a 21-day quarantine for healthcare worker returning after treating Ebola patients in west Africa, would be disrespectful to them but it isn't disrespectful to our returning troops. Really?

Calling for travel restrictions to affected countries and quarantines for those coming from those countries is anti-science, right? It is also implied that it is racist. So I guess all these countries and organizations are backward, racist, anti-science types.
